WALNUT CREEK, Calif., Oct. 17, 2024 — Leading environmental engineering and construction services firm Brown and Caldwell today joined elected officials, water utilities, community leaders, educators, and businesses to acknowledge the 10th annual Imagine a Day Without Water, a nationwide day of education and advocacy about the value of water.
Led by the US Water Alliance’s Value of Water Campaign, over a thousand organizations across the country will join Imagine a Day Without Water to raise awareness about the role of water in our lives and the importance of investing in water and the people behind these systems that keep our communities healthy and thriving. For the milestone 10th anniversary, this year’s theme focuses on how we are contributing to the future of water by asking: What’s your drop in the bucket? By working together, we can do amazing things!
Recognizing that investment in community drinking water and wastewater systems is essential to national health, safety, and economic prosperity, Brown and Caldwell employees took to social media to discuss their passion for the sustainable management of the most precious resource. Like-minded engineers, scientists, and construction professionals rallied for the event to create videos, snap photos, and share thoughts on what water means to them using the hashtag #MyDropInTheBucket.
“Water is the foundation of life. BC participates in Imagine a Day Without Water annually as a passionate way to engage our 2,100 employee-owners as we celebrate our collective appreciation and vision for the preservation of safe, accessible, and sustainable community water supplies.”
Brown and Caldwell One Water Leader Steve Anderson
According to the 2024 Value of Water Index, 88 percent of American voters rank access to safe and clean water as a top-three issue, and 65 percent would support continued federal investment in water. As Imagine a Day Without Water grows, now is the time to voice the importance of water infrastructure and the workforce that supports it—emphasizing the need for partnership at all levels to promote water infrastructure funding.
