WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – Brown and Caldwell, a market leading environmental engineering and construction firm, today announced that as part of its planned succession of leadership, Craig Goehring has transitioned from Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to Executive Chairman, and Rich D’Amato, President and Chief Operating Officer (COO), has been promoted to CEO.

Goehring will continue in a full-time capacity as Executive Chairman, working side by side with D’Amato and other senior leaders and in chairing Brown and Caldwell’s Board of Directors. The changes are effective as of February 1, 2018.

I am thrilled with Rich’s promotion to lead the company as CEO and President. Rich understands the complexities of the environmental market; he is passionate about delivering outstanding service and technical excellence to our clients; and he is committed to sustaining BC’s culture and independent employee-owned path. Rich is ideally suited to provide next generation leadership and to successfully lead Brown and Caldwell.
Executive Chairman Craig Goehring

Since joining Brown and Caldwell in 2013, D’Amato has served in multiple leadership positions, including Executive Vice President of the firm’s Private Sector Enterprise, and more recently as President and COO. Working with company operations and strategy teams, he has led the firm to a new position of strength — poised to thrive in a dynamic market constantly evolving through digitization, technological advancement, new competition in a consolidating industry, and new client demands.

Commenting on his appointment, D’Amato said, “I am honored and excited to take the baton and work with our executive leadership team as our business continues to grow. With a 70-year legacy and a clear vision to be the Company of Choice, we have a solid foundation and strategy to build upon and create continued success. We will remain true to our roots and purpose as we continue to focus on our people, our clients, and our environment.”

Goehring concluded, “In a built-to-last company like Brown and Caldwell, leadership transition — both in individual positions and in executive teams — is a critical activity. I believe we have worked the plan well. The Board and I have full confidence in Rich and the executive leadership team that has been established.”
