On May 22, 1983 sewage flow was restored in the Allens avenue Interceptor in Providence, Rhode Island, exactly 16 days after bypassing commenced to allow the repair of a severely damaged section of this 102 inch diameter, 90 year old brick arch sewer. A summary of the inspections and investigations leading to the design and implementation of the repair of this interceptor is presented in this paper.
