Efficient, high-rate sludge application to soils at the Sacramento Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant (SRWTP) site at Sacramento, California, has been conducted over the past decade. Since 1983, the quality of sludge applied to the land has been greatly increased because of the start-up of the new 150-mgd plant. The low cost sludge application system is disposal-oriented, and the site is approved as a landfill under State of California regulations.
