Municipalities evaluating beneficial reuse options for biosolids, such as land application contracts and landfill cover operations, may want to add another option to the list–buying agricultural land expressly for biosolids reuse. A study initiated by the city of Portland, Oregon, evaluated several biosolids reuse options and recommended purchasing land because of the flexibility and economic advantages it provided.
