The State Water Resources Control Board and the nine California Regional Water Quality Control Boards early in 1972 commenced the second phase of an in-depth planning effort that will result in comprehensive water quality control plans for the 16 watershed basins within the State. The first phase was completed in 1971 with the adoption by the Regional Boards of interim plans and their approval by the State Board. A map of the 16 watershed basins is attached.
