The economic burdens associated with solid waste disposal are not solely the responsibility of municipal government. Hotels, casinos, hospitals, schools, and other institutions also share that burden. All of them should take part in lessening the cost of solid waste disposal. Cost-effective disposal techniques are now being successfully implemented by industrial and commercial institutions as well as local government. These methods may be found worthy of repeating. The key issue is determining the applicability of proven systems to the user’s needs and assuring the endurance of the waste stream for a sufficiently long period.
