In October, 1985, Brown and Caldwell completed the Eastern San Joaquin County Ground Water Study. It was initiated in mid-1982 after ground water levels in the County had fallen nearly two feet a year for the past 30 years. The primary purpose of the study was to determine the effects that future water supply alternatives would have on the ground water basin. The study compared a number of alternatives involving combined use of ground water and additional surface water to a base case that assumed no further development of surface water supplies.
