In response to regulatory pressures it has become necessary for wastewater treatment plant operators, owners, and regulators to assess the fate of chemicals entering their plants. Because actual emission measurements are often difficult and expensive, and because of the wide variety and large number of potential emission sources within a plant, simpler and less expensive means are needed to identify these processes and unit operations that represent the major in-plant emission sources.
