The Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG), which is the regional planning agency for the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area, is preparing a comprehensive Environmental Management Plan under Section 208 of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act Amendments of 1972. The Plan will consist of seven management elements representing all of the major controllable pollution sources and inter-related media. The seven management plans relate to (1) surface water runoff, (2) nonpoint pollution sources other than surface runoff, (3) municipal wastewater discharges, (4) industrial wastewater discharges, (5) solid waste, (6) air quality maintenance, and (7) water supply, conservation, and reuse.
