This paper presents pertinent aspects of the operation of a sedan automobile on compressed natural gas (CNG) in Northern California. The sedan is a company-leased passenger vehicle which has been operating from the Sacramento Office of Brown and Caldwell Consultants (BCC) since 1991. Data on fuel use, fuel cost, and related information is included here. Information is also included about CNG fueling stations and availability of fuel through the gas utility, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E). PG&E’s CNG and vehicle fleet conversion programs are also discussed.
