An off-shore project simulation program (Opspro) is now available to run on IBM-PC compatible microcomputers, providing readily accessible information for managing weather-sensitive offshore projects. This article describes the basic elements of Opspro and provides three real world examples to illustrate its versatility. The model can be tailored to a variety of applications: bid proposal/evaluation for drilling/construction projects; risk analysis of new construction concepts; operational decision making under uncertainties; and general purpose planning/scheduling.
