The Orange Water and Sewer Authority (OWASA) has historically used biogas generated by their anaerobic digesters to heat the digesters and run a methane engine that powered a direct drive 7,000 scfm blower. Recently, the methane engine became inoperable and OWASA hired Brown and Caldwell (BC) to conduct an evaluation to determine whether or not there was a viable alternative to replacing the methane engine that would utilize the biogas that they were flaring. This paper describes the evaluations conducted, the alternatives explored and the results of the evaluations.
