The paper presents a purely industry point of view of asset management; the views of the consulting community, and particularly of the authors, are not part of this. In that respect, the “authors” listed above are not really authors at all; they are simply editors who have transcribed the actual words of the utility managers doing the real work of asset management implementation. The comments were transcribed and then edited and approved by each of the managers. They tell, as accurately and objectively as possible, how each organization is moving ahead, successes gained, and difficulties encountered. There are strong common threads evident including the importance of leadership, a need for business focus, and a desire for excellence.
