Modeling studies at hydraulics laboratories at Montana State University and ENSR Consulting and Engineering have confirmed the validity of an innovative departure in the design of wastewater pumping stations. The design approach, originally developed for variable speed stations and proven over more than 30 years’ experience, has been altered to accommodate the use of constant speed pumps. The result is equally applicable to variable and constant speed stations, large and small. The modified design provides an improved environment for pump operation, reduces the accumulation of solids, is easy to clean and costs less.
