Dr. Parker has raised some very interesting and challenging questions in relation to the technology, or lack of technical foundations, in the design of trickling filters. While his paper was focused on sheet media, the same questions can be raised for all types of biotowers that operate as percolating filters, whether sheet, random, or rock media is employed.
