In addition to the Lake Lanier Watershed Study’s primary objective of developing water quality analysis and management tools, the study participants identified the critical need to involve the public during the study to increase awareness of the issues under investigation. Many stakeholders interviewed at the onset of the project indicated they had concerns about the UCBG’s study. These concerns focused on the credibility of the UCBG, credibility of the study, and the ability of the UCBG to use the study for water quality protection. A substantial coordination, communication, and involvement effort was made throughout the project to demonstrate the study’s validity and impartiality and ensure that the study achieves its objectives.
