Sewer renovation is defined as “methods by which the performance of a length of sewer is improved by incorporating the original sewer fabric, but excluding maintenance operations such as isolated local repairs and root or silt removal.” A renovation system is generally considered to be established when it has successfully completed both assessment and full-scale trials, including proving the suitability of constituent materials. Sufficient information is required to provide confidence in specific design lives of the materials.
