The EPA Water Engineering Research Laboratory (WERL) sponsored a symposium on activated sludge clarifier design and operation in Cincinnati, Ohio in the summer of 1986. The purpose was to identify research needs addressing the above topic and to identify major key indicators of good performance as well as methods of correcting previous problems.
