Papers and Reports

Sludge disposal methods take many forms. This paper describes sludge-only land disposal methods, their primary features, and typical current requirements for control measures needed to meet environmental standards of the late 1980s in the USA. Within this paper, the various disposal methods include monofills, or sludge-only landfills, lagoons, and soil surface or subsurface land application or injection techniques. Beneficial use methods, which entail growing any kind of commercial or non-commercial crop or obtaining any nutrient benefit for landscaping or other activity, are not included here. The methods described are strictly “disposal” oriented, not “beneficial use” oriented.
