WALNUT CREEK, Calif., October 5, 2015 — For the fourth consecutive year, Brown and Caldwell has been recognized as an industry leader by the National Safety Council for achieving the best safety performance within its industry. This is BC’s fifth safety award in the last six years.

The 2015 Industry Leader Award underscores BC’s commitment to health and safety in the workplace. Only 53 companies of more than 50,000 NSC member organizations earned the honor this year. The award is a part of the NSC’s member-exclusive Occupational Awards Program.

“Brown and Caldwell is extremely proud of our successful, longstanding health and safety initiatives,” company president James R. Miller said. “The company’s strong commitment to safe work environments is part of our corporate culture, which begins with the dedication of each local health and safety team and extends to the support of all employees and senior management.”

Earlier this year, the NSC honored Miller as one of nine top company executives who have made a significant commitment to health and safety in their workplaces. He was recognized in the February 2015 issue of Safety+Health magazine in the feature article, “CEOs Who ‘Get It.’”

In August 2015, Brown and Caldwell hit the milestone of working 12 million hours and five continuous years without an occupational injury or illness that resulted in days away from work.

The Industry Leader Award recognizes the top 5 percent of member companies, units and facilities that have met the criteria and qualified for the 2015 Occupational Excellence Achievement Award (based on 2014 calendar year data) from the National Safety Council. Winners are selected based on North American Industry Classification System code, lowest total incidence rate and employee work hours.
