USING LEED™ FOR MUNICIPAL INFRASTRUCTURE – REALITY VS. HYPE
Author: Dawn Lesley, Lawrence Oeth & Jeffrey J. McGraw
Date: 10/04
2004 WEFTEC Technical Sessions

Many municipalities, private agencies, and federal agencies are adopting goals to require that all new construction shall seek Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED™) certification. However, this certification was developed by architects to promote high-performance buildings and it is poorly adapted to municipal infrastructure such as water and wastewater treatment facilities. This paper discusses the opportunities for appropriate use of LEED™ for municipal infrastructure projects.
