Improving Biosolids Management System-Wide Saves City $30 Million
As Florida’s first "Green City,” the City of St. Petersburg set out to upgrade its biosolids management program to produce Class A product and harvest more usable energy. BC engineers helped the city identify a dramatically streamlined plan, meeting their long-term needs, winning the support of city leaders, and saving $30 million over the next 20 years. With the new plan, biosolids will be routed from three plants and will be processed at one facility, allowing the city to improve biosolids management system-wide with the upgrade of a single plant.
